After watching the documentary Pure Fruit, I decided to try out a fruitarian diet*. I’ve been eating more raw meals this week, and I hope that my transition progresses smoothly. When I ate gourmet raw food I felt better than I did eating cooked vegan, but I suffered from a lot of stomach issues. My body couldn’t handle the large quantities of nuts or the complex recipes. I prefer simple and easy food! I went with my friend Caitlyn and her Mom to a philosophy lecture on religion, and I enjoyed it very much. Although I am not currently taking a philosophy class, it was nice to be in that environment again. Our former professor Dr. Scarantino was there, and it was great to see him! His class taught me how to formulate arguments and deconstruct those formulated by others. I have a profound respect for the field, and I hope to continue my studies in it. After the lecture, we had a late lunch at Anatolia’s. It’s a cute Mediterranean restaurant located in the heart of my university campus. It reminded me of the tea houses in Granada. Each of us reflected on our travels and laughed vigorously! We ended the night with many hugs and kisses— Europe withdrawals, maybe?

*Mango and Kveta think a fruitarian diet is one that consists of only fruit (no greens, grains, nuts, seeds). According to their definition I would be a raw foodist, because I will continue to eat greens. I think they are important for certain mineral requirements.

** To eat in a way that produces absolutely no waste would be a dream. I know that shipping food from halfway across the world is not beneficial for me nor the planet, so I’m looking into cheaper local alternatives (no further that border states).

***This is an ‘experiment’. I am slowly working my way to this. Besides, I had lentil soup and pita for lunch. :)

  2. bubblygranolachick answered: I think fruit is great but I wouldn’t be able to eat just fruit and no veggies.
  3. pruplemonkeydishwasher answered: You might want to continue the greens when on a fruitarian diet. Or on any diet.
